Dhaka, Aug 21 (V7N) – After reviewing the cases of retired officials outside the administration cadre, the review committee has recommended meritorious promotions for 78 officers who were previously deprived of promotion during service.

According to the report, the recommended promotions include 12 officers to Grade-1, 32 officers to Grade-2, and 34 officers to Grade-3.

The recommendation was submitted today (Wednesday) by former Finance Secretary Zakir Ahmed Khan, convener of the review committee for deprived officers, to Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus at his office. This marks the second report from the committee.

The Chief Advisor’s Press Wing stated that the five-member review committee was formed on September 16, 2024, to assess applications from retired officers who were deprived of promotion between 2009 and August 4, 2024, under the Ministry of Public Administration.

Two-Phase Review

  • In the first phase, the committee reviewed applications concerning deprivation from the posts of Deputy Secretary and above, and submitted its first report on December 10, 2024.

  • In the second phase, applications were invited from officials in cadres other than the administration cadre, holding third-grade or higher positions. A total of 318 applications were received, of which 68 were outside the committee’s scope and 40 were incomplete. The committee ultimately reviewed 210 applications.

From these, the committee recommended:

  • 6 officers for three-step promotions,

  • 17 officers for two-step promotions, and

  • 55 officers for one-step promotions.

No promotion was recommended for the remaining 132 applicants.

Principal Secretary to the Chief Advisor Siraj Uddin Mia was also present during the submission of the report.
