Dhaka, July 28 (V7N) – Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has called for greater coordination between the army, police, and local administration ahead of the 13th National Parliament elections, urging all security agencies to begin preparations immediately to ensure a fair and impartial electoral process.

According to a statement issued by the Press Wing on Monday, the Chief Advisor emphasized the need for joint action during a high-level meeting with the Home Affairs Advisor and senior law enforcement officials regarding the country’s evolving law and order situation.

During the meeting, Dr. Yunus highlighted the critical role of the military in election security, noting that 60,000 army personnel would be deployed on the ground to maintain peace and order during the polls. Additionally, 150,000 police officers are scheduled to receive three months of training beginning in September to prepare for election duties.

The Chief Advisor also instructed authorities to identify and take early action at risk-prone polling centers, stressing that preemptive security measures are essential. Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder confirmed that a reshuffle in the administration may take place, if necessary, to further bolster transparency and confidence in the electoral process.

Meanwhile, Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam reported that Dr. Yunus met with the US Ambassador to Bangladesh to discuss bilateral issues. During the meeting, the Chief Advisor reiterated Bangladesh’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy on militancy and stated that negotiations on tariff issues with the United States would resume soon.
