Dhaka, July 23 (V7N) – Education Advisor Professor CR Abrar addressed questions from journalists on Wednesday afternoon at the Secretariat regarding the delay in postponing the HSC and equivalent examinations amid the aftermath of the Milestone School plane crash.
Professor Abrar explained that the decision to postpone the exams was delayed because the proper procedures had to be followed. “The decision to postpone the exam cannot be taken hastily or as a single unilateral decision. That is why there was a delay,” he said, adding that the postponement was finalized late at night. The new exam dates will be announced soon.
Responding to queries about the incident, the Education Advisor asserted that there was no negligence on the part of the Education Ministry related to the Milestone tragedy. He also revealed that the Education Secretary has been removed from the government’s top level, though he was unaware of the details. Abrar further stated that while he does not intend to resign voluntarily, he would step down if requested by the government or relevant authorities.
On the students’ six-point demands, CR Abrar described them as reasonable and affirmed that the government is working toward fulfilling them, including providing compensation to the families of the victims. He also emphasized the need to change the training venue of Air Force aircraft to ensure safety.
