Dhaka, July 22, (V7N) – After a high-level meeting with representatives of BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, National Citizen Party (NCP), and Islami Andolon Bangladesh, the interim government’s Legal Adviser Asif Nazrul stated that all participating political parties have called on the government to take firm action to improve the deteriorating law and order situation across the country.
Speaking to the media at around 10:30 pm on Tuesday (July 22), Asif Nazrul said,
“All political parties present at the meeting emphasized the need for strict measures to tackle the current law and order crisis. They also reiterated their commitment to anti-fascist unity, despite differing views or occasional criticism of each other.”
Earlier in the evening, leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami and the Islamic Movement addressed the media. However, BNP and NCP leaders chose not to make public statements after the meeting.
The Legal Adviser further added that the parties collectively warned against so-called 'fascist collaborators' who they claim are attempting to reorganize and create instability in different regions of the country.
“Speaking out against one another does not indicate a collapse of unity. The real threat is from those working to undermine democratic forces,” he said.
The government has also urged the parties to initiate public programs and activities that make the anti-fascist alliance visible and reinforce a sense of national solidarity.
