Rajshahi, July 22 (V7N) – The body of Flight Lieutenant Taukir Islam, who died in Monday’s tragic Bangladesh Air Force jet crash at Milestone School and College in the capital's Uttara area, was buried at the Sapura cemetery in Rajshahi on Tuesday afternoon.
A second funeral prayer (namaz-e-janaza) was held at the Rajshahi District Liberation War Memorial Stadium at 4:30 pm, following an earlier funeral at Dhaka Cantonment at 1:00 pm. The body was transported from Dhaka to Rajshahi by road earlier in the day.
Taukir's grandfather, Azizur Rahman, confirmed the details of the burial and the funeral arrangements.
Mourning has engulfed Rajshahi city since morning, with friends, relatives, and well-wishers gathering at Taukir's family home. Special prayer programs were organized by local socio-cultural groups and the district administration to honor the young Air Force officer’s sacrifice. His friends and peers have prayed for the eternal peace of his soul.
Flight Lieutenant Taukir Islam was piloting a FT-7 BGI training aircraft that crashed into a building on the Milestone School campus at 1:18 pm on Monday, shortly after taking off from the AK Khandaker Air Force Base in Kurmitola. The Chinese-made fighter jet reportedly crashed due to a mechanical failure, resulting in a deadly blaze and significant casualties.
