Dhaka, July 19, (V7N) – Environment, Forest and Climate Change Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan emphasized that improving the environment cannot be achieved through the efforts of a single generation. She urged for a long-term commitment, calling for values to be developed over several generations to ensure effective environmental protection.
She made the remarks at the closing and award distribution ceremony organized by the Department of Environment on the occasion of World Environment Day on Saturday (July 19) morning.
Rizwana highlighted the importance of involving children in environmental movements, noting that giving them a voice would help achieve better results. She encouraged educational institutions to organize trips to environmentally friendly locations and urged the Forest Department to establish more eco-friendly resorts.
“It is not possible to improve the environment in just one generation’s struggle. Several generations will need to work together. However, now is the time to develop values that protect the environment,” she said.
She also called for habits like using cloth bags instead of polythene bags to reduce pollution. Rizwana stressed the importance of reducing noise pollution by avoiding unnecessary honking while driving and encouraged spreading awareness about environmental protection nationwide.
The event featured an exhibition of environmental paintings by students of various ages and the distribution of awards to the winners.
