Dhaka, July 06 (V7N) – Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury clarified on Sunday that three individuals were sent back from Malaysia due to expired visas and confirmed they are not militants. He added that the government is in contact regarding the whereabouts of five others, and investigations are ongoing.
Speaking after visiting the cargo complex at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said he was unaware of any statement from the Malaysian police chief about militants and emphasized that the Bangladeshi government has made no official claims about militants currently residing in the country.
He highlighted that while militants existed previously, no militant-related incidents have been reported in Bangladesh in the past ten months.
Additionally, he announced plans to launch a cold storage facility at the new terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. This facility aims to facilitate the export of agricultural products, promoting diversification beyond reliance on a single product.
