Amman, Mar 18 (V7N) – At least two people have been killed in a missile strike by Iran on central Israel, sources reported to Al Jazeera. The attack was reportedly carried out in retaliation for the killings of Iranian leaders Ali Larijani and Gholamreza Soleimani in recent US and Israeli operations.
Sirens were sounded across central Israel following the strike. While the full extent of the damage is still being assessed, earlier attacks in the region caused significant destruction in Tel Aviv and neighboring cities, including Bnei Brak and Ramat Gan.
Eyewitnesses described direct hits on residential buildings. One resident told Israeli media that a missile left a large hole in the middle of their living room; although they had a safe room, there was not enough time to reach it. Reports also indicated injuries in the Sharon area and Bnei Brak, and damage to a central railway station in Tel Aviv temporarily halted rail services across the country.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah continues to fire hundreds of rockets into northern Israel daily. Iranian missile attacks are reportedly coordinated with these rocket barrages, increasing pressure on Israel’s air defense systems.
