Washington, Mar 07 (V7N) — Russia is reportedly providing intelligence support to Iran to help identify targets linked to the United States in the Middle East, according to a report by The Washington Post.
In a report published on Friday, the newspaper claimed that Moscow has been assisting Tehran with information about the locations of US military bases, warships, and aircraft operating in the Middle East.
However, the report noted that it is not yet clear how extensive Russia’s support to Iran is or the level of coordination between the two countries.
The report also said that the ability to track the positions of Iranian military forces has significantly decreased since the United States and Israel launched Operation Epic Fury on February 28.
According to the report, the military operation has made it more difficult for US and allied forces to monitor Iranian deployments, raising concerns about increasing geopolitical tensions in the region.
Analysts say that if the intelligence cooperation between Russia and Iran continues, it could further complicate the security situation in the Middle East, where tensions between the United States, Israel and Iran are already high.
