Doha, July 26 (V7N) – A recent report by Al Jazeera highlights growing concerns among analysts over Israel’s alleged preparations for a direct assault on Iran, potentially aiming not only to dismantle nuclear facilities but also to destabilize the Iranian government itself.

According to the report, several experts on Iranian affairs believe that Israel could launch a full-scale military offensive if Iran fails to finalize a nuclear agreement within a timeline set by Western powers. In the meantime, Israel is reportedly increasing covert operations inside Iran through its intelligence network.

The shadow of the 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel still looms large, in which more than 1,000 people, including senior Iranian military officials and nuclear scientists, were reportedly killed. The war also significantly weakened Iran’s air defense capabilities, with U.S. airstrikes allegedly destroying several of the country’s fortified nuclear sites.

Despite the heavy toll of the previous conflict, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is believed to be considering further military action, this time with the goal of overthrowing the current Iranian regime. This claim, sourced from Iran experts and cited by Al Jazeera, suggests Tel Aviv aims to reduce Iran to a weakened state, similar to Syria or Lebanon, to gain greater strategic control.

Iranian-American analyst Trita Parsi told Al Jazeera, "Israel wants to turn Iran into a fragile state so they can strike it at will." Similarly, Middle East analyst Ori Goldberg noted that Israel is unlikely to act without support from former U.S. President Donald Trump, but would proceed readily if given the green light.

The report also mentions that the United States and the European Union are pushing for a renewed nuclear deal with Iran by August. Should Iran fail to comply, the West may impose additional sanctions. In response to these developments, Iran is reportedly continuing diplomatic negotiations while also investing in its air defense capabilities and acquiring modern fighter aircraft.

Though not officially engaged in a new war, Israel is allegedly conducting small-scale attacks inside Iran, maintaining pressure through its intelligence operations, according to the report.
