HANOI, March 26, (V7N) — Bangladesh suffered a 3–0 defeat to upper‑ranked Vietnam in a FIFA international friendly held today at the Hàng Đẫy Stadium in Hanoi, as part of preparations for the final AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Singapore on March 31.

Vietnam dominated from the outset, taking a 3–0 lead by halftime and maintaining control until the final whistle.

The hosts struck early in the 8th minute when Pham Tuan Hai converted from a set‑piece, the ball deflecting off Zayyan Ahmed into the net. Vietnam nearly doubled the lead in the 17th minute, but goalkeeper Mehedi Srabon produced a strong save to deny Nguyen Hoang Duc.

However, just a minute later, Vietnam found their second. Pham Xuan Manh headed home from close range in the 18th minute, again from a set‑piece situation.

The third goal came in the 38th minute, when Nguyen Hai Long dribbled past two defenders and finished with precision into the bottom right corner.

Bangladesh struggled to impose themselves in the first half, though Foysal Ahmed Fahim forced a diving save from Vietnamese goalkeeper Dan Van Lam, and Sohel Rana sent a promising effort over the bar.

After the break, Bangladesh tightened their defense and prevented Vietnam from extending the lead, showing improved organization and resilience.

Coach Javier Cabrera fielded Hamza Choudhury in the starting eleven, ending speculation about his availability. Mehedi Hasan Srabon retained his place in goal, while Sohel Rana captained the side in the absence of regular skipper Jamal Bhuyan. Fahamidul returned from suspension, with Shamit Shom and Zayyan Ahmed leading the attack.
