Tehran, June 25 (V7N) — The Iranian government has officially confirmed the death of Brigadier General Ali Shadmani, the commander of the Central Headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Khatam al-Anbiya.
The confirmation came through a statement released by the headquarters and reported by Iran’s state news agency IRNA. According to the statement, General Shadmani succumbed to injuries sustained in an Israeli airstrike last week.
The announcement follows a June 17 statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), which claimed that General Shadmani had been killed in a precision operation based on “accurate intelligence.” The IDF noted that the target was selected due to Shadmani’s strategic role in coordinating Iranian military operations and his alleged involvement in directing proxy activities against Israel across the region.
Though Iran initially remained silent on the matter, the official acknowledgment puts to rest speculation surrounding his fate following reports of the targeted strike.
General Ali Shadmani was considered a key figure in the IRGC’s strategic military planning and had long held senior positions within the elite force. His death marks a significant development in the ongoing shadow conflict between Iran and Israel, which has intensified in recent months amid escalating regional tensions.
Iran has not publicly detailed the exact circumstances of the airstrike or whether it intends to retaliate, though officials have previously warned of "measured responses" to acts of aggression.
The IRGC's Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters plays a central role in Iran's military operations, both domestically and in its regional interventions. Analysts suggest that Shadmani’s death could temporarily disrupt IRGC planning and prompt shifts in the command structure.
As of now, there has been no official statement from Iran regarding a successor to Shadmani.
