Pabna, July 13 (V7N) — BNP Vice Chairman Advocate Ahmed Azam Khan asserted that there is no place for extortionists, murderers, or robbers within the BNP, dismissing recent defamatory claims by rival groups. Speaking at a meeting alongside local BNP and affiliate leaders at Baluchar Playground in Chatmohar, he condemned attempts to derail elections by blaming issues with creating a level playing field.
The gathering was organized to introduce and meet Hasan Jafiz Tuhin, the nominated BNP candidate for Pabna‑3, who also serves as President of the BNP-affiliated National Peasant Party.
Where he emphasized: “The field today is already full of so‑called level playing field claims—what will happen once you’re in power? Speak less and contest the election. If anyone exploits the BNP name for extortion, they will face exemplary punishment. No one can fish in muddy water here.”
Addressing Hasan Jafiz Tuhin, Azam Khan added: “Tarique Rahman, the architect of the people’s uprising, sent me a wonderful gift for Pabna‑3: the gentleman Hasan Jafiz Tuhin. As a student leader at Mymensingh Agricultural University, he led countless students. One day, he will lead Bangladesh to victory. We leave him here with you as a servant of the people. Elect him as MP on a “Dhanshish” (rice sheaf) ticket with massive support.”
In response, Hasan Jafiz Tuhin said: “Following party directives, I have come here with the rice sheaf—those feeling pride or resentment, I ask: join under one banner and help elect the Dhanshish. I have no relatives or siblings here; but I will stand beside you as a brother. I promise to elevate Pabna‑3 to a new level of development.”
Earlier in the day, activists from Chatmohar, Bhangura, and Faridpur joined separate processions converging at Baluchar Ground. The city buzzed with protests and slogans celebrating the rice sheaf symbol, carried on banners, festoons, and placards.
The meeting, presided over by Chatmohar BNP municipal president Asaduzzaman Arshed, featured senior party leaders including BNP Chairperson’s Adviser and District Convener Habibur Rahman Habib as chief speaker, alongside Peasant Party Organizer Dipu Haider, District BNP Secretary Advocate Masud Khandakar, Joint Convener Anisul Haq Babu, Dhaka South BNP organizer Arifa Sultana Ruma, former organizing secretary Mahmudunnabi Swapon, ex–municipal secretary Ahmed Mostafa Noman, JASAS convener Khaled Hossain Parag, and District Peasant Party President Abul Hashem, among others.
