Brahmanbaria, June 30 (V7N) – Following the withdrawal of the ‘Complete Shutdown’ and ‘March to NBR’ programs by the agitating National Board of Revenue (NBR) Reform Unity Council, import-export activities have resumed at the Akhaura land port in Brahmanbaria this morning.

The port saw renewed movement with five pickup trucks loaded with fish and three trucks carrying flour arriving on Monday. Customs officials, port workers, and traders have returned to normal operations after a two-day halt.

The shutdown was launched by the NBR Reform Unity Council demanding the removal of the NBR chairman, which halted all trade through the Akhaura port since Saturday. The strike caused complete suspension of import, export, and trade activities over the weekend, as no business documents were processed on Saturday and Sunday.

However, the agitators relented after government pressure and mediation by business leaders. The Unity Council withdrew their programs on Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, despite the shutdown, immigration operations continued uninterrupted. Passport-holding travelers crossed the Akhaura International Immigration Checkpost as usual, according to Immigration Checkpost In-charge Abdus Sattar.
