RANGAMATI, March 26 (V7N) — A motorcyclist was killed in a tragic road accident on the Raikhali–Bangalhalia road in Rajasthali upazila of Rangamati district late night.

The deceased was identified as Ukyasingh Marma (34), son of Sachingmang Marma of Raikhali Moti Para village under Chandraghona police station.

According to local sources and police, the accident occurred around 10:40 pm on March 25 in the Selmara area of Bangalhalia union. The motorcycle, heading from Bangalhalia to Raikhali, reportedly lost control and crashed into a roadside tree, leaving the rider critically injured.

Locals rushed to rescue him, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly after the accident.

Officer-in-Charge of Chandraghona Police Station, Saker Ahmed, said police recovered the body after being informed and sent it to Kaptai Upazila Health Complex for necessary procedures. Legal steps in connection with the incident are currently underway.

Police initially suspect that overspeeding and negligence may have caused the accident, though an investigation is ongoing to determine the exact circumstances.

The incident has cast a shadow of grief over the local community.
