Dhaka, August 15 (V7N) – In a bid to ensure law and order during the observance of National Mourning Day, the government has ordered strict security measures at key locations, including Dhanmondi 32, the historic residence of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. In line with these directives, police have been heavily deployed in the area to prevent any unauthorized political assembly.
According to senior police officials, specific instructions have been issued prohibiting any gathering by individuals affiliated with banned political groups. Authorities believe that these groups have been actively involved in various subversive activities over the past several months, attempting to disrupt public peace and provoke unrest.
A police spokesperson stated that recent intelligence reports suggest members of the banned organization have been plotting in different forms, posing a threat to national stability. “There will be zero tolerance toward any attempt to undermine the country’s law and order. These groups have tried repeatedly to interfere with public safety and individual freedoms. We are committed to taking firm action against them,” the spokesperson added.
National Mourning Day, observed on August 15, marks the assassination of the Father of the Nation, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in 1975. The day is commemorated with strict security protocols due to its political sensitivity. Dhanmondi 32, considered a central site of remembrance, often sees large gatherings and high-level visits, making it a priority area for security forces.
Authorities have reiterated that any individual or group attempting to defy the government’s directives on this day will face immediate legal consequences. This move underscores the government's broader stance against organizations deemed threats to national unity or social stability.
