Chittagong, Aug 16 (V7N) – Energy and Mineral Resources Advisor Fawzul Kabir Khan has said that speedy implementation of development projects will reduce waste and corruption, while also minimizing reliance on foreign contractors. He made the remarks after the formal inauguration of the Chittagong to Dhaka fuel oil pipeline in Patenga on Saturday (August 16) morning.
The advisor emphasized that keeping resource limitations in mind is crucial, noting that road construction costs in Bangladesh are higher than in other South Asian countries. Delays in project implementation increase costs due to currency fluctuations and rising prices of goods.
He added that three oil marketing companies will supply fuel through the pipeline, which will transport fuel oil from Chittagong to Barura in Comilla, Godnail in Narayanganj, and Fatulla in Dhaka. The project is expected to save crores of taka by preventing oil theft and reducing wastage.
