Dhaka, July 26 (V7N) – The death toll in the tragic plane crash near Milestone School and College has risen to 35, as another victim, a school staff member named Masuma (32), succumbed to her injuries on Saturday morning. She was reportedly inside a two-storey building on the campus during the incident.

Doctors at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery declared her dead at approximately 10:15 AM. With this, the total number of confirmed deaths now stands at 35, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Professor Dr. Nasir Uddin, Director of the National Burn Institute, stated that all burn patients are receiving care under a tiered treatment system. International medical teams from Singapore and China have also joined local efforts to manage the critical situation.

"The condition of 15 patients has significantly improved, and we are preparing to discharge them in phases starting today or within the next two days," Dr. Nasir Uddin confirmed.

However, three patients remain in critical condition and are under constant observation. The hospital has emphasized that no additional blood or skin donations are currently needed. All treatment expenses for the injured are being covered by the government.

Security at the Burn Institute has been intensified, with personnel from the Army, Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and the Air Force stationed around the hospital premises to ensure safety and support hospital operations.

In response to the ongoing tragedy, Milestone School and College authorities have declared Sunday and Monday as official holidays to mourn the lives lost and express solidarity with the victims’ families. Counseling for students and staff is expected to begin soon.
