DHAKA, Feb 19, (V7N) - Shairul Kabir Khan, a member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) media cell, has joined the Daily Shomoyer Alo as its advisory editor.

Md Ramzanul Haque Nihad, managing director of Amin Mohammad Group, handed over the appointment letter to Shairul Kabir in Dhanmondi this afternoon. Senior officials of Amin Mohammad Foundation and Shomoyer Alo — including Executive Director Mohammad Tanvirul Islam, publisher Faisal R Ferdous, COO Munif Ammar, and CBO Ehsanul Habib Sadi — welcomed him to the role.

Later, Shairul Kabir formally joined the newspaper’s office at Bangla Motor, where acting editor Shahnewaz Karim and staff greeted him with bouquets.

A graduate of Abu Abbas College in Netrakona, Shairul Kabir began his journalism career as a correspondent for the Daily Dinkal. He has been directly involved with the BNP Chairperson’s Press Wing since 2007, appointed by current Prime Minister Tarique Rahman when he formed the party’s first media cell.

Shairul Kabir also planned and directed a Liberation War documentary unveiled by former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia at the State Guest House Jamuna, later broadcast on Bangladesh Television.

Speaking about his new responsibility, Shairul Kabir said: “I am a writer; I want to be more focused on the media and journalists for the sake of the party and the country.”
