Ukhia (Cox’s Bazar), Feb 10 (V7N) – A Rohingya man was killed in a landslide at Rohingya Camp No. 19 in Ukhia upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Syed Azim (36), son of Azim Ullah, a resident of A-18 block of Camp No. 19. The incident occurred at around 1:30 pm.

According to eyewitnesses and local sources, Syed Azim was cutting soil from a nearby hill to repair his shelter when a portion of the hill suddenly collapsed, burying him under debris and leaving him critically injured.

Other Rohingyas present at the scene rescued him and rushed him to RTM International Hospital, located adjacent to the camp. However, the on-duty doctor declared him dead upon arrival.

Ukhia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nur Ahmed confirmed the incident, saying that the body was recovered with the assistance of the camp administration and sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
