Bagerhat, MAY 26 (V7N) – A press conference was held in Bagerhat today, Sunday, May 25, 2025, where a distressed woman named Mosa: Tania from the Roypara area of Sadar Upazila publicly protested against the alleged seizure of her ancestral property and ongoing threats. The press conference took place at the Bagerhat Press Club hall.

Present at the event were Fatema Begum, Md. Israful Babu, Mini Begum, Mosammat Rizia, Beauty Begum, and Rajni Begum.

Mosa: Tania tearfully explained her situation: "We are four sisters and two brothers. Currently, including my brother, we all live in Jessore. My father died in Jessore on September 19, 2007. While my father was alive, he purchased 1 acre 32 decimal of property in Arpara Mouza of Bagerhat Sadar Upazila under CS 296 and SA 139 Khatians."

She continued, "When he was alive, my father's 1 acre 32 decimal property, belonging to Saymon's sons Ahmed and Mohammad of Arpara village in Bagerhat Sadar upazila, used to be looked after by them, and they would give us a part of the annual produce. But when my father died in 2007, when we came to our property, Ahmed claimed to be a freedom fighter and abused us in foul language. At that time, the neighboring Awami League terrorist Liton Mallick threatened us in various ways. They told us that your grandfather Rezbar Sheikh had sold all your property to us. So you have no share here. At one point, they attacked and assaulted all my brothers and sisters, including me. My family members and I were injured in the attack by Awami League terrorists Liton, Ahmed, and their men."

Tania stated that they did not receive any remedy even after filing complaints with the Sadar Police Station and the Superintendent of Police. "We did not get any legal help due to the power and money of the terrorists, who are associated with the freedom fighters and the Awami League," she lamented.

Consequently, they filed cases with the Bagerhat Land Survey Tribunal, registered as Civil Case No. 2367/14 and Civil Case No. 45/22. "Even though the autocratic government fell on August 5, their threats have not stopped. They are still spreading their influence in the area and carrying out various misdeeds. We cannot enter our ancestral house due to the fear of their terrorist activities. These terrorists are also threatening to kill us if we come to the court to handle the case," Tania asserted.

She concluded her statement by seeking the intervention of the administration to properly investigate the matter and take necessary measures.
