Ukhiya, Sept 11 (V7N) – Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered 2,80,000 yaba tablets during a late-night operation in the Balukhali border area of Ukhiya on Tuesday. No arrests were made during the raid, officials confirmed in a press release Wednesday morning.

According to BGB sources, a special patrol team stationed near a border pillar in Balukhali observed 10–12 suspicious individuals entering Bangladesh from Myanmar around 8:30 p.m. Four BGB personnel challenged the intruders, identifying six to seven as known drug traffickers. The suspects brandished local weapons and sticks while attempting to enter the country. Confronted by the BGB team, they fled into a nearby canal and swam back towards Myanmar.

Following a search, two packages wrapped in white plastic were found on the canal bank. Inside were 28 blue waterproof packs containing a total of 2,80,000 yaba tablets.

Ukhiya Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Jasim Uddin confirmed the seizure and stated that intelligence operations have been intensified to track and apprehend the fleeing traffickers.

Authorities emphasized their commitment to combating cross-border drug smuggling and ensuring border security in the region.
