Dhaka, Mar 03 (V7N) — The two city corporations of the capital have requested financial allocation from the Prime Minister to implement the ‘Clean and Green Dhaka’ initiative, officials said on Tuesday afternoon.

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator Md. Abdus Salam stated that a one-month crash program has been launched to address the ongoing civic crisis in the city.

Meanwhile, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Shafiqul Islam Milton said the corporation currently lacks sufficient funds for development work, which is why a special allocation from the Prime Minister has been requested.

Officials also reported that canal-digging operations have begun as part of the initiative. In addition, government land encroached upon by unauthorized occupants will be reclaimed through official notices, aiming to restore public spaces and improve urban infrastructure.

Both city corporations emphasized that the funding and active implementation of these programs are crucial to achieving a cleaner and greener Dhaka.
