DHAKA, Aug 05 (V7N) – A day-long cultural program titled "July Revival Programmes-2025" was held today at the capital's Manik Mia Avenue to mark the first anniversary of the historic July Uprising. The event, which drew a large gathering of students, artists, and ordinary citizens, aimed to reflect the spirit of resistance, unity, and democratic aspirations that defined the 2024 movement.
The program commenced at noon with a performance by the Islamic cultural troupe Saimum Shilpi Gosthi, who opened with the patriotic song "Ei Desh Amar Bangladesh, Amar Bhalobasha," written by Ustad Tofazzel Hossain. Kolarob Shilpi Gosthi followed with their musical segment.
At 1:20 pm, a video message from Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus was aired, in which he paid tribute to the martyrs and participants of the movement and reiterated the call for justice and equality. This was followed by a performance from singers Lutfor Rahman and Nahid Hasan of the commemorative track "36 July," a song composed to honor the events and sacrifices of the previous year.
A symbolic segment titled "Fascist's Fleeing Moment" took place at 2:25 pm to represent the fall of the former regime. During this performance, helicopter-shaped balloons were released into the sky, accompanied by spirited chants from the crowd, including "Polaise Re Polaise, Sheikh Hasina Polaise!" (She fled, she fled, Sheikh Hasina has fled!) and "Kothai Kothai Bangla Char, Bangla Ki Tor Bap-Dadar?" (Where is your Bengali identity, is Bangladesh your father's and grandfather's property?), capturing the defiant tone of the uprising.
The afternoon session featured contemporary musical performances, with the Chittagong Hip Hop Hood opening at 2:30 pm. They were followed by solo performances from hip-hop artist Shezan and the popular Shunno Band. Shunno received an enthusiastic response from the audience when they performed their acclaimed song "Shono Mohajon." Musicians Ethun Babu and Moushumi also performed.
After Asar prayers, the long-awaited "July Declaration" was officially announced by the Chief Adviser. The declaration, which gives state and constitutional recognition to the 2024 student-led mass uprising and its martyrs, garnered close attention from the audience and is expected to set the tone for future national reforms.
The event served as both a solemn tribute to the martyrs of the student-led uprising and a celebration of the ongoing struggle for justice, equality, and democratic transformation. The day's programs were scheduled to continue into the evening with additional musical performances and a drone light show titled "Do You Miss Me" as the closing segment.
