Rimbi, Sep 12 (V7N) – At least four people have died and ten others injured in a massive landslide in the Yangthang area of Rimbi in West Sikkim, India. Several others are still reported missing.
The landslide occurred late on Thursday, September 11, burying homes and roads under debris. The Indian Army and the Sikkim state disaster management team have launched rescue operations to locate survivors.

North and West India have been severely affected by monsoon-related floods and landslides, particularly in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu and Kashmir. The Supreme Court of India has attributed the situation to environmental degradation and has issued warnings and notices to several states.
The central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured full assistance to the affected areas, while authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant due to the risk of continued rainfall.
