Gaza, Aug 05 (V7N)- A letter signed by over 600 former Israeli security officials, including former Mossad chief Tamir Pardo, former Shin Bet chief Ami Ayalon, and former Israeli army deputy chief Matan Vilnai, has called on US President Donald Trump to bring an end to the war in Gaza. The letter was sent on Sunday (August 3) amid global outrage over the deaths of dozens of Palestinians due to an Israeli-induced famine.
The signatories urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to pressure Trump to halt the nearly two-year-long conflict that has devastated Gaza and left over two million Palestinians struggling to survive amid famine conditions.
The letter states that the Israeli military has achieved two of its three objectives by force: "destroying Hamas’ military structure and regime." However, the third goal—the return of all Israeli prisoners—"can only be achieved through an agreement."
“Stop the Gaza war! On behalf of the CIS, the most senior former military generals in Israel—including leaders from Mossad, Shin Bet, police, and diplomatic corps—we call on you to stop the Gaza war,” the letter said.
It emphasized that this is a critical moment for regional and international action to fundamentally change the situation in Gaza. The former officials stressed that Trump has the power to make this change and urged him to use his full influence immediately.
The letter was shared by Israel’s Commanders for Security (CIS) Group X on Twitter, which stated:
"Whatever can be achieved by force has been achieved. The prisoners will not wait any longer."
They further warned that Trump’s credibility depends on his ability to guide Netanyahu “in the right direction.”
The appeal follows the release of videos by Palestinian groups showing two skeletal Israeli prisoners held in Gaza, highlighting the urgency of the situation.
