Kyiv, July 06 (V7N) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and former US President Donald Trump have discussed strengthening Ukraine’s air defense and collaborating on joint drone production, as Russia continues its relentless missile and drone strikes.
According to a statement from Zelensky’s office, the two leaders spoke about Ukraine’s urgent security needs and the importance of sustained Western support. Zelensky said Trump pledged to work together to “secure Ukraine’s skies” and highlighted the potential for joint arms production and defense industry cooperation.
The conversation also addressed accelerating the delivery of critical air defense systems, including Patriot missiles, to help counter Russia’s intensified aerial assaults. Both leaders discussed mutual arms purchases, investments in defense, and Ukraine’s ongoing diplomatic engagements with international partners, including the United States.
This dialogue comes at a time when Washington recently confirmed that the Trump administration had suspended some military aid to Kyiv as part of a stockpile review. Analysts suggest the talks could signal a shift in US policy regarding the Ukraine war, emphasizing that coordinated action by Western nations is crucial to addressing Ukraine’s immediate defense needs.
