Tehran, June 26 (V7N) — At least 627 people have been killed and 4,870 others injured in Iran during a 12-day military conflict with Israel, according to official figures released by Iran’s Ministry of Health.

The latest casualty update was announced Wednesday night by the ministry’s spokesperson, Hossein Karmanpour, via a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). He stated that the fatalities and injuries resulted from Israeli airstrikes and missile attacks that have continued since hostilities began nearly two weeks ago.

“These figures reflect verified casualties from various provinces, many of whom are civilians,” Karmanpour wrote. The Health Ministry also confirmed that dozens of hospitals across the country are operating under emergency conditions due to the high influx of wounded patients.

The escalating conflict, which erupted earlier this month amid rising tensions in the region, marks one of the deadliest confrontations between Iran and Israel in recent history. Israeli forces have claimed their operations are targeted, aimed primarily at military installations, weapons depots, and command centers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). However, Iran alleges that civilian areas have been heavily affected, including residential neighborhoods and healthcare facilities.

Iranian authorities have yet to disclose how many military personnel are among the dead or wounded, but sources suggest a significant number of IRGC members may be included in the toll.

International organizations, including the United Nations and the Red Crescent, have expressed concern over the growing humanitarian crisis and called for an immediate ceasefire. Meanwhile, both Tehran and Tel Aviv show no signs of de-escalation, with rhetoric and retaliatory threats continuing on both sides.

As the death toll rises, pressure mounts on the global community to intervene diplomatically and prevent the conflict from spiraling into a broader regional war.
