Tehran, June 19 (V7N) — Iran’s state television was disrupted by a cyber attack on Wednesday night (June 18), according to officials in Tehran. Several international media outlets have also confirmed the incident.
In a statement, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) said that Israeli forces interfered with the channel’s satellite transmission, briefly replacing regular programming with videos of previous Iranian anti-government protests.
IRIB further warned viewers that any disruption in broadcast signals, including irrelevant messages or unfamiliar video content, should be considered a hostile attack orchestrated by external enemies.
This cyber incident follows a recent missile attack that damaged the IRIB building itself during a live news broadcast, underscoring the intensifying confrontation between Iran and Israel.
In addition to targeting state media, cyber attacks were also launched against Sepah Bank, Iran’s oldest state-run financial institution, and Pasargad Bank, one of the country’s leading private banks, on Tuesday. Authorities have not yet specified the extent of the damage to these financial systems.
The cyber assaults appear to be part of Israel’s broader offensive strategy, combining conventional military strikes with cyber warfare to disrupt Iranian infrastructure.
With both kinetic and cyber attacks escalating, the conflict between Iran and Israel is increasingly spilling over into multiple domains, raising concerns about further destabilization in the region.
