Tehran, June 19 (V7N) – Iran has launched a medium-range ballistic missile toward Israel, marking another escalation in the intensifying conflict between the two nations. According to a CNN report published Wednesday night, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed that it fired a Sejjil-2 solid-fueled ballistic missile at Israeli targets.

In a statement released by the IRGC, Iranian military officials stated that the launch was a direct response to what they described as “Israeli provocations” and that the operation aimed to demonstrate Iran’s strategic missile capabilities.

The Sejjil-2 is a domestically produced, two-stage, solid-propellant ballistic missile with an estimated range of 2,000 kilometers (approximately 1,240 miles), capable of reaching targets deep within Israeli territory. It is known for its high-speed launch capability and reduced launch preparation time compared to liquid-fueled systems, making it more difficult to intercept pre-launch.

Military analysts have warned that the deployment of such missiles increases the risk of a broader regional conflict, especially amid growing fears that the ongoing exchange of hostilities could spiral beyond the Iran-Israel axis.

There has been no immediate response from Israeli defense officials regarding damage, interception, or casualties related to the missile launch.

This marks the latest in a series of missile and drone attacks exchanged between Iran and Israel over the past weeks. The conflict has drawn international concern, with the United Nations and world leaders urging both nations to de-escalate and avoid actions that could destabilize the broader Middle East.
