Ottawa, June 17 (V7N) — US President Donald Trump has proposed a ceasefire to bring an end to the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel. French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed this development during a press briefing at the ongoing G7 summit in Canada.

Speaking to reporters, Macron stated that nuclear negotiations between Tehran and Washington could potentially resume if a ceasefire agreement is successfully implemented. He also revealed that diplomatic dialogue involving the US, Iran, and Israel is already underway to de-escalate the situation.

“I spoke with President Trump a short while ago. He indicated that talks are ongoing, which is a positive development,” Macron said. “If the US can help facilitate a ceasefire, France will fully support it. It is crucial to put an end to all forms of attacks from both sides.”

The conflict, marked by missile exchanges and rising casualties in both Iran and Israel, has raised global concerns over further escalation. The proposed ceasefire is seen as a critical step toward restoring stability in the region and potentially reviving long-stalled diplomatic engagements.
