Mongla, Sept 20 (V7N) – BNP Central Committee Research Secretary, agriculturist Shamimur Rahman Shamim, has said that for the past 17 years young people were handed weapons, pushed into drug addiction, and used as political tools. He emphasized that the BNP wants a different path—empowering youth with knowledge, nurturing them morally, physically, and mentally, and engaging them in sports.

Speaking as the chief guest on Friday afternoon at the prize-giving ceremony of an eight-team football tournament organized by the Arafat Rahman Koko Krira Sangha’s Mongla Upazila Committee at Mithakhali field, Shamim said, “Through the Koko Krira Sangha, we want to build young people as responsible citizens, free from drugs and terrorism. Inspired by the commitment of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, we must build a new Bangladesh with the youth.”

He further said that BNP stands for justice and will not tolerate terrorism, corruption, or extortion. “Those involved in such activities must face social and political resistance. We will hand them over to law enforcement,” Shamim added.

In the final match, Mongla Municipality team defeated Rampal’s Perikhali team to become champions. Later, Shamim handed over trophies to both the champion and runner-up teams.

The event was attended by Bagerhat District BNP Coordinator M.A. Salam, former District Jubo Dal President Fakir Tariqul Islam, District BNP Joint Convenor Khadem Niamul Nasir Alap, former Jubo Dal Organizing Secretary Mahbubur Rahman Tutul, Mongla Municipality BNP President Md.
