Tehran, June 21 (V7N) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Iran is open to reconsidering diplomatic engagement, but only if all acts of aggression cease and those responsible for crimes are held accountable. He firmly emphasized that Iran’s defense capabilities are non-negotiable.

His comments came following a high-level meeting in Geneva with the foreign ministers of Germany, the United Kingdom, and France, as well as the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

“In order for diplomacy to resume, there must first be an end to the aggression,” Araghchi said. “Justice and accountability for the perpetrators are non-negotiable prerequisites. Only then can we even begin to consider a return to the table.”

Addressing questions about Iran’s military and missile programs, the foreign minister asserted, “Our defense capability is a red line. Iran will not entertain any discussion that seeks to limit our sovereign right to defend ourselves.”

The Geneva meeting comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, where Iran is currently engaged in an intensifying standoff with Israel, drawing global concern. Western diplomats have been pressing Tehran to de-escalate and re-engage with diplomatic frameworks, particularly around regional security and nuclear transparency.

However, Iran has repeatedly insisted that it will not make concessions under pressure or threats and will respond firmly to any violations of its sovereignty.

Araghchi added that Iran remains committed to regional peace but will not compromise on its national dignity or security interests. “We are a nation that prefers peace, but we are not afraid of resistance when peace is denied to us,” he said.

The EU has yet to release a formal statement following the meeting, but sources close to the talks suggest that while divisions remain, dialogue channels will remain open to prevent further escalation.
