Dhaka, Aug 15 (V7N) – BNP Chairperson’s Advisor Zainul Abdin Faruk has warned that if the interim government attempts to hold the upcoming national election through any form of conspiracy, it will face resistance from the people — not just the BNP.

Speaking at a discussion and prayer meeting organized by the Workers’ Party at the National Press Club on Friday morning to mark Khaleda Zia’s birthday, Faruk alleged that many have started “new politics” on the blood of those who brought down the fascist regime on August 5.

“The people of this country have waited 16 years for their right to vote,” he said, accusing “opponents of independence” of using public relations tactics to undermine that right.

Faruk also expressed doubts over the interim government’s ability to ensure a free and transparent election, warning that if Dr. Muhammad Yunus’ administration fails in this regard, “its name will be written in history in a tarnished way.”
