Dhaka, July 30 (V7N) – The Jatiya Party (JPA) has officially submitted its income and expenditure account for 2024 to the Election Commission. On Wednesday afternoon, Presidium Member Rezaul Islam Bhuiyan handed over the audited report to Election Commission Secretary Akhtar Ahmed.

According to the report, the party's total income for the year 2024 was 26,438,938 taka, while the total expenditure stood at 17,988,044 taka. The income primarily came from contributions, publications, and donations from party workers. Expenditures covered campaign activities, office employee salaries, and other operational costs.

Rezaul Islam Bhuiyan Responds to Allegations

Addressing recent criticisms, Rezaul Islam Bhuiyan rejected claims labeling the Jatiya Party as an ally of fascists for contesting elections alongside the Awami League. He pointed out that the BNP also participated in the last elections, and argued that if JPA were to be declared illegal for its alliance, then other parties, including BNP, should face the same consequences.

He stressed that the party would participate in upcoming elections if a level playing field is ensured. He further noted that if JPA were banned for participating in the last three elections, then 31 other parties, including BNP, should also be banned for their participation in the 2018 elections.

Bhuiyan highlighted that all political parties are registered according to the Representation of the People Order (RPO), and the Jatiya Party has complied fully with the regulations. Regarding the impartiality of the Election Commission, he remarked that since elections have not yet been held, the party neither considers the commission completely neutral nor biased.

Financial Trends

In comparison to previous years, Jatiya Party’s finances have grown:

  • 2023: Income of 22.2 million taka; expenditure of 11.1 million taka.

  • 2022: Income of 22.9 million taka; expenditure of 12.8 million taka.

  • Bank balance stood at 17.7 million taka as of 2023.

The report indicates a rise in both income and expenditure in 2024.
