Faridpur, July 5 (V7N) — The Ganasanghati Andolon (People’s Solidarity Movement) has expressed deep concern and strong outrage over the attack by a faction of the local BNP on a procession at the home of A.K. Azad, Managing Director of Ha-Meem Group in Faridpur, alongside the worsening law and order situation across the country.

In a joint statement issued on Friday, the movement’s Chief Coordinator Jonaid Saki and Executive Coordinator Abul Hasan Rubel condemned the creation of mobs in Muradnagar, Lalmonirhat, Faridpur, and other parts of the country, which have engaged in acts of oppression and terror, including rape, disruption of teachers’ promotion exams, and surrounding police stations to forcibly extract accused individuals, all under the guise of being “allies of the Awami League.”

The statement questioned the interim government’s intentions, asking whether it seeks to plunge the country into anarchy. “If not, why are the law enforcement agencies unable to perform their duties properly? Why are mobs being created repeatedly to commit crimes across the country?” the statement asked, emphasizing that the primary responsibility of a post-uprising government is to ensure the safety and security of all citizens, including accused or criminals.

The leaders also highlighted that one of the main achievements of the mass uprising is the establishment of an anti-discrimination spirit and the rule of law. They criticized advisers who fail to properly interpret the nature of mobs or justify them by dragging in the Awami League or references to the country’s past since 1953, stating that such advisers are not true representatives of all the people of Bangladesh.

Finally, the Ganasanghati Andolon urged the immediate arrest of those responsible for creating mobs—whether they are terrorists, opponents of the mass uprising, or destroyers of national unity. They called for effective measures to be taken promptly to improve the country’s law and order situation.
