Dhaka, July 04 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has been continuously struggling to restore democracy in the country for the past 16 years, said BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi. He stated that the BNP’s movement aims to revive the democracy that, according to him, Sheikh Hasina has "buried."

Rizvi made these remarks at an emergency press conference held at BNP’s central office in Nayapaltan on Friday (July 4).

He highlighted that the BNP’s movement for democracy has persisted despite facing various forms of repression and torture. Rizvi also praised Begum Khaleda Zia’s contribution, saying, "Whenever democracy has been destroyed or became a victim of conspiracy, Begum Khaleda Zia has always stood firm to restore it."

Emphasizing the party’s stance on discipline, Rizvi added, "Action will be taken against those involved in any immoral or criminal activities. BNP has zero tolerance for terrorism, immorality, or any breach of discipline." He informed that several leaders across the country have already been expelled for violating party rules.

Rizvi reiterated BNP’s demand for a free, fair, and credible election, stating that such an election would demonstrate the party’s popularity.
