Rajshahi, Dec 16 (V7N) – Rajshahi City Corporation celebrated the Great Victory Day 2025 with due honor and dignity through a day-long program reflecting deep respect for the nation’s history and its heroic freedom fighters.
At sunrise on Tuesday, floral wreaths were laid at the Shaheed Memorial located at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office premises in Rajshahi. The tribute was led by the Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner and Honorable Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation, Dr. A. N. M. Bazlur Rashid, in remembrance of the martyred freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence.
During the wreath-laying ceremony, senior officials of Rajshahi City Corporation were present, including Chief Executive Officer Md. Rezaul Karim, Supervising Engineer Ahmed Al Main Parag, Budget and Accounts Officer Shafiqul Islam Khan, Executive Engineer (Planning) Subrata Kumar Sarkar, City Hospital In-Charge and Resident Medical Officer Dr. Tarikul Islam Bani, Deputy Chief Conservancy Officer Selim Reza Ranju, Revenue Officer Md. Sarwar Hossain, Taxation Officer Md. Imtiaz Ahmed, Taxation Officer Md. Mahiuddin, Accounts Officer Nizamul Hoda, Public Relations Officer Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Assistant Public Relations Officer Rakibul Haque Tuhin, Monitoring Officer Shahriar Rahman Jitu, along with officials from various departments, sections, and ward secretaries.
On the occasion, special prayers were offered at all mosques, temples, churches, pagodas, and other places of worship across the metropolitan area, seeking eternal peace for the departed souls of the martyred freedom fighters, good health for living and war-wounded freedom fighters, and peace, prosperity, and progress for the nation.
As part of the observance, the national flag was hoisted at the Nagar Bhaban, ward offices, and all establishments under the control of the City Corporation. To mark the day, Rajshahi Central Botanical Garden was opened free of charge for children, allowing them to enjoy the occasion in a festive atmosphere.
Additionally, a friendly football match between Rajshahi City Corporation and the District Sports Association was scheduled to be held at 4:00 pm at the Liberation War Memorial Stadium, adding a recreational dimension to the Victory Day celebrations.
Through these diverse programs, Rajshahi City Corporation paid tribute to the spirit of the Liberation War and reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the values of independence, unity, and national pride.
