PABNA, March 28, (V7N) — A member of the Railway Police, Sohel Rana (40), narrowly escaped death after falling from a moving train at Chatmohar Railway Station in Pabna early Saturday morning.

According to police sources, the incident occurred around 7 am when the Ekta Express, bound for Dhaka from Panchagarh, stopped briefly at Muladuli station. Due to heavy crowding, Sohel Rana, another policeman, and a train ticket examiner (TT) were walking along the platform. When the train suddenly departed, the other two managed to board, but Sohel clung to the train’s handle for nearly 40 km before losing his grip at Chatmohar station.

He fell beside the railway line, narrowly avoiding the train’s wheels, and sustained serious injuries to his head, face, and body. Locals rescued him and admitted him to Chatmohar Upazila Health Complex, before Railway Police later transferred him for advanced treatment.

Eyewitness Musabbir Haque Russell, who was filming a passing train at the station, captured the fall on video. The footage quickly went viral after being posted on Facebook.

Station Master Zahurul Islam Z confirmed the incident, saying Rana could no longer maintain balance after hanging on for so long. Chatmohar Police Station OC Golam Sarwar Hossain added that Rana was on duty at the time and has since been taken into care by railway police.
