RANGAMATI, March 28, (V7N) — Police in Rangamati have carried out two separate operations, recovering a stolen motorcycle and investigating the disappearance of a young mother and her child.
Stolen motorcycle recovered, one arrested
A special team from Kotwali Police Station, led by Officer‑in‑Charge Md. Jasim Uddin, recovered a stolen motorcycle on Saturday from the area adjacent to Tabalchhari Central Jame Mosque in Ward No. 4 of Rangamati Municipality.
The operation was conducted under the direction of Superintendent of Police Muhammad Abdur Rakib, PPM, based on Case No. 17 (dated March 27, 2026, Section 379 Penal Code).
Police arrested Md. Suman (37), son of Md. Sahab Uddin and Laila Begum, from Jetighat area under Kaptai Police Station. The motorcycle was seized according to the seizure list, and legal action against the accused is underway.
Authorities said such operations against theft will continue.
Expatriate’s wife and daughter missing
Concern has spread in Rangamati town after the disappearance of Shehrin Sultana Shamima (20), wife of expatriate Md. Alauddin, and her two‑year‑old daughter.
Family sources said Shamima left her father’s house in Swarntila area around 3 pm Friday, heading toward Mosque Colony intersection, but never returned. Her mother filed a general diary (GD) at Kotwali Police Station after failing to trace them.
Police confirmed the matter is being taken seriously and investigations are ongoing. Family members have appealed to the public for information, sharing contact numbers 01820331348 / 01882767864.
The incident has caused widespread concern in the locality.
