Cox’s Bazar, Dec 19 (V7N) — Police in Ramu, Cox’s Bazar, arrested three individuals and recovered 1,600 pieces of boundlies used in firearm magazine production during a late-night operation on Wednesday. A mini pickup truck used for transporting the contraband was also seized.

The arrested individuals are Mohammad Shahjahan (25), Mohammad Ilyas (19), and Atikur Rahman (25), all residents of Naikhongchhari, Bandarban district. The operation took place around 1:45 a.m. in the Jowarianala area of Ramu and was led by Monirul Islam Bhuiya, Officer-in-Charge of Ramu Police Station.

Police set up a temporary checkpoint in Jowarianala, stopping a mini pickup truck attempting to pass. The vehicle initially tried to evade the checkpoint but was intercepted. Upon inspection, officers found 32 white plastic bags containing a total of 1,600 boundlies.

During preliminary questioning, the suspects admitted that the boundlies were intended for delivery to an armed militant group operating near the Myanmar border.

A case has been filed against the arrested and unidentified individuals at Ramu Police Station under case number 47/833, dated 18 December 2025. Police confirmed that efforts to apprehend other suspects involved in the incident are ongoing.

OC Monirul Islam Bhuiya verified the authenticity of the operation and stated that the police are continuing investigations to arrest additional suspects.
