Rangamati, Dec 14 (V7N) – The Rangamati district unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Saturday staged a protest rally and held a demonstration condemning the shooting attacks on Osman Hadi, an independent parliamentary candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency and spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha, and Ershad Ullah, the BNP-nominated candidate for the Chattogram-8 constituency.
The protest procession began at 10:30 am from the Rangamati district BNP office and was led by Advocate Dipen Dewan, BNP-nominated parliamentary candidate for Rangamati-299 and joint religious affairs secretary of the party’s central committee. The procession marched through key streets of the city before concluding at a public rally.
Senior leaders present at the rally included Rangamati district BNP President Dipon Talukdar Dipu, General Secretary Advocate Mamunur Rashid Mamun, Vice President Saiful Islam Panir, Organizing Secretary Saiful Islam Shakil, along with a large number of leaders and activists from BNP and its affiliated and associate organizations.
Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Advocate Dipen Dewan said that a deep conspiracy is unfolding in the country ahead of the upcoming national parliamentary election. He alleged that, as part of this conspiracy, armed attacks were carried out on two parliamentary candidates in Dhaka and Chattogram.
He strongly condemned the attacks on Osman Hadi and Ershad Ullah and demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of those involved. Dewan further warned that conspiracies are being hatched against Bangladesh’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, urging party leaders and activists to remain vigilant and prepared to resist any form of violence.
Referring to directives from BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman, Dewan said party members must remain steadfast to the principle of “Bangladesh First” and continue their presence on the streets until Tarique Rahman returns to the country. He cautioned that BNP activists would not retreat until justice is ensured for those responsible for the recent armed attacks.
Calling for unity, he urged party leaders and activists to stay mobilized on the streets until the national parliamentary election is held.
