Dhaka, Sep 22 (V7N) – The 20th day of testimony in the crimes against humanity case against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and Mamun is set to continue today at the International Crimes Tribunal-1, led by Judge Md. Golam Mortuza Majumder.

Following today’s proceedings, the tribunal will continue the cross-examination of Ali Ahsan Junayed, convener of United People’s Bangladesh (UP Bangladesh), who is the 48th witness in the case.

The prosecution has also filed a petition to record the statements of three additional witnesses. In line with that, Sabrina Afroz Semanti, sister of Shaheed Saikat, appeared before the tribunal as a new witness.

Junayed’s testimony began on September 21 at 12:30 pm and continued until 3:30 pm, before being adjourned with cross-examination scheduled for today. His statement, along with others, has provided graphic accounts of massacres and atrocities committed during the July–August 2024 uprising. Families of martyrs and eyewitnesses continue to demand exemplary punishment for those held responsible, including Hasina and Kamal.

On July 10, the tribunal ordered the start of the trial after framing five charges of crimes against humanity against the accused.

Meanwhile, the tribunal will also hear testimony in the Abu Sayeed murder case, marking the seventh day of witness statements in that trial.
