Dhaka, June 28 (V7N) — Professor Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar, Advisor for Primary and Mass Education, has expressed dissatisfaction with Bangladesh’s existing education system, saying it remains rooted in the colonial-era model designed by the British to produce clerks.
He made these remarks on Saturday at a national-level promotion program for a pilot project organized by the Non-Formal Education Bureau at a hotel in the capital.
Dr. Poddar stressed the urgent need for innovative approaches in planning the country’s education development. “We must move beyond outdated frameworks and focus on new strategies to build a modern and relevant education system,” he said.
Highlighting the Skillfo project, he urged that its benefits be expanded nationwide. Launched in September 2023 with financial support from the Global Partnership for Education and technical assistance from UNICEF, the project concludes this month.
“The lessons from this initiative should guide future efforts to strengthen skill development across Bangladesh,” Dr. Poddar added.
