Dhaka, Aug 21 (V7N) – In July 2025, Bangladesh reported 427 road accidents causing 380 deaths and 542 injuries, according to the Road Transport Authority (BRTA). Contrasting figures from private organizations include the Passenger Welfare Association’s report of 506 accidents with 520 fatalities and 1,356 injuries, and the Road Safety Foundation’s record of 443 accidents with 418 deaths and 856 injuries.

BRTA data, collected through divisional offices, showed Dhaka division with the highest toll: 113 accidents, 103 deaths, and 151 injuries.

The report highlights vehicle involvement in accidents: buses (117), motorcycles (116), trucks/covered vans (133), pickups (40), jeeps (17), microbuses (15), ambulances (1), vans (9), tractors (6), e-bikes (10), battery-operated rickshaws (14), auto-rickshaws (37), and others (127), totaling 642 vehicles.

Motorcycles caused the most fatalities (83), followed by trucks/covered vans (48), buses (47), auto-rickshaws (28), microbuses (19), pickups (18), vans (17), battery-operated rickshaws (16), e-bikes (15), jeeps (3), and tractors (1).

The data underscores the urgent need for improved road safety measures in Bangladesh to reduce accidents and save lives.
