Barishal, Dec 24 (V7N) — Mufti Fayzul Karim, senior Naib Amir of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, has warned that the current administrative situation in the country is alarming, citing disunity among authorities and growing divisions among the public. Speaking to journalists at a discussion at Barishal Press Club on Tuesday evening, he stressed, “To protect the nation, everyone must remain united.”

He raised concerns over the impartiality of the administration, the application of government protocols, and the conduct of the upcoming national elections. “When meetings are held with only specific political parties, other parties are sidelined, which questions the neutrality of the administration and creates inequality,” he noted.

Addressing the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Mufti Fayzul Karim cautioned against repeating the mistakes of past commissioners, stating that previous officials faced humiliation and disrepute. He expressed hope that no future CEC will become a victim of mob pressures.

He urged strict monitoring to ensure that muscle power, black money, and threats are not used during the elections.

Regarding the role of journalists, he said, “Journalists are the voice, conscience, and mouthpiece of the nation. A country with impartial journalism moves forward correctly, but if journalists lose neutrality, the nation cannot progress properly.” He appealed to the media to have the courage to call out the guilty and defend the innocent, avoiding the culture of misrepresenting truth.

On government protocol, Mufti Fayzul Karim noted inconsistencies in granting privileges that sometimes do not comply with existing legal provisions, raising concerns about the potential bias of administration in the future.

He further emphasized the importance of public awareness, stating that repeating the message that corrupt individuals cannot build a corruption-free nation will educate citizens. Calling for the rejection of extortionists and corrupt individuals in the upcoming election, he said that if citizens, journalists, and state officials take a united stance, Bangladesh will reject corruption and advance toward national development.

Barishal Press Club’s Vice President Zakir Hossain, Humayun Kabir, and other members were present during the discussion.
