Dhaka, Dec 18 (V7N) – The body of Inqilab Manch spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, who was shot earlier this month and died while undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital, is being brought back to Bangladesh today (Friday).
According to sources close to the family and the organization, Hadi’s body departed Singapore following completion of necessary formalities and is expected to arrive in Bangladesh later in the day.
Earlier, on Thursday night (December 18), Hadi’s verified Facebook page officially announced his death. The Inqilab Manch Facebook page also confirmed both his death and the repatriation of his body.
In separate posts, the pages expressed grief over his passing, describing him as a revolutionary figure. These statements were issued by the organization and his supporters.
Background of the Incident
Sharif Osman Hadi was shot on December 12 while heading to a public meeting in the Bijoynagar area of the capital. According to eyewitness accounts, two assailants on a motorcycle opened fire at close range before fleeing the scene.
The bullet hit Hadi in the head, leaving him critically injured. He was initially taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery, and was later transferred to Evercare Hospital for advanced treatment.
As his condition failed to improve, Hadi was airlifted to Singapore by air ambulance for specialized medical care. Despite intensive treatment at Singapore General Hospital, he later succumbed to his injuries.
Details regarding funeral arrangements and burial are expected to be announced by the family and Inqilab Manch after the body arrives in the country.
