Dhaka, Dec 16 (V7N) — Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of the Inqilab Manch and a potential independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, remains in critical condition at Singapore General Hospital, according to hospital sources.

Hadi was admitted to the hospital on Monday evening after being transported via air ambulance, which landed at Seleta Airport, Singapore, at 5:50 pm Bangladesh time. Upon arrival, he underwent a series of medical tests. Doctors have reportedly recommended a further surgery, but Hadi’s physical condition is not yet stable enough for the procedure.

Hadi was accompanied by his two elder brothers, Omar Farooq and Abu Bakar Siddique, who are overseeing his care.

The politician was shot by unidentified assailants in Bijoynagar, Dhaka, last Friday afternoon. He was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later moved to Evercare Hospital for advanced treatment. Due to a lack of significant improvement, it was decided to transfer him abroad.

The interim government is covering the full cost of Hadi’s treatment in Singapore.
