Lakshmipur, Nov 15 (V7N) — BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie has alleged that there is a connection between those imposing lockdowns and individuals involved in secret political activities aimed at obstructing elections. He made the remarks during a courtyard meeting with women voters at Boralia School Ground in Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila on Saturday afternoon.

Annie referred to past events in 1986 and 1996, saying, “They have harmed the country by blocking hartals for 172 days and holding people hostage. Now, again, in the name of lockdown, they are showing processions and meetings using AI. Some of their workers are involved secretly in conspiracies, bomb attacks, and setting cars on fire.”

He criticized the newly formed Nationalist Coalition Party (NCP), claiming that one of its members was arrested in Dhaka and identified as a Shibir worker. “There is a deep conspiracy against the country to prevent the election. They want to obstruct and stop it,” Annie added.

Annie asserted that if elections are held, the BNP, as the party of the masses, will come to power. He urged Islamic parties to abandon secret politics and conspiracies, respect public sentiment, and engage in transparent political activities.

The event was attended by Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Vice President Wahid Uddin Chowdhury Happy, District BNP members Hafizur Rahman and Nizam Uddin Bhuiyan, Chandraganj Thana BNP President Belal Hossain, General Secretary M. Yusuf Bhuiyan, and District Women’s Party leaders Sabera Anwar and Fatema Akter Shimu Bhuiyan.
