Dhaka, Sep 15 (V7N) – Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, member of the BNP Standing Committee, has cautioned that democracy in Bangladesh will be at risk if political programs continue to be held on the streets without the mandate of the people.

Speaking at a gathering in Dakshinkhan on Monday afternoon, Chowdhury emphasized that the longer the delay in restoring democratic processes, the more dangerous the situation will become. “The phase of the streets is over. Now is the time to restore the ownership of the people,” he said. He warned that failure to hold elections soon after the recent coup could lead to division and even civil conflict in the country.

Chowdhury also highlighted BNP’s focus on empowering marginalized groups, particularly the disabled. “The state must invest in the disabled like any other citizen. This investment will be financial, moral, and human,” he said.

He added that BNP’s approach is centered on development and production rather than charitable donations, stressing the party’s commitment to strengthening citizens’ capacity and empowerment as part of its responsibilities as a political organization.
